A guide for residents, families, and visiting guests navigating the Beck Road widening project.
Last Updated: April 23, 2026
The City of Novi has officially launched the “Beck to the Future” initiative – a significant infrastructure investment that will widen Beck Road between Grand River Avenue and 11 Mile Road. As part of this project, a roundabout will also be installed at the Beck Road and 11 Mile Road intersection to improve long-term traffic flow and safety.
We want to keep our residents, families, and visitors fully informed throughout this process. This page will serve as your go-to resource for the latest project status, detour information, and answers to common questions. We appreciate your patience as this corridor is improved for everyone in our community.
What’s Being Built
This project includes several major improvements to the Beck Road corridor:
Key Improvements:
- Widening Beck Road to five lanes from Grand River Avenue to 11 Mile Road
- New roundabout at Beck Road & 11 Mile Road intersection
- Transition from rural ditch to a modern curb-and-gutter system
- Installation of a large-diameter culvert south of Heritage Drive
- An extensive new storm sewer network along Beck Road’s western edge
- Upgraded traffic signal near the hospital
- ADA sidewalk upgrades throughout the corridor
Traffic Impact & Detour Information
Current Conditions – Minor Lane Closures
While culvert installation work is underway, drivers should expect minor lane closures and lane shifts along Beck Road. Traffic will be directed by flag control. Please allow extra travel time and follow all posted signage.
Upcoming: Northbound Detour Route
Once major roadwork begins, Beck Road will be open to southbound traffic only. Northbound drivers will be rerouted as follows:
- Head east on 10 Mile Road
- Turn north on Novi Road
- Turn west on Grand River Avenue

Transportation Schedule Adjustments
Our transportation team may need to adjust schedules and limit the number of rides accommodated per day as detours add travel time to each trip. We will communicate any changes to affected residents directly and ask for your patience and flexibility during this time.
